1.Irrfan (1967-2020)

Cause of Death- Colon Infection

He died at the age of 53 due to a colon infection. Irrfan Khan was an Indian actor who worked in Hindi Cinema as well as British and American films. Khan’s career spanned over 30 years and earned him a National Film Award, an Asian Film Award, and four Filmfare Awards.
In 2011, he was awarded the Padma Shri. He made his film debut with a small role in Salaam Bombay!(1988), which was followed by years of struggle. Irfan Khan was described by Peter Bradshaw as “a distinguished and charismatic star in Hindi and English-language movies whose hardworking career was an enormously valuable bridge between South Asian and Hollywood cinema”.

In 2012, he changed his first name from “Irfan” to “Irrfan”; he said he liked the  sound of the extra “r” in his name.He later dropped “Khan” from his name because—according to a 2016 interview—he wanted his work to define him, not his lineage. He was credible & versatile actor.

2. Sridevi (1963- 2018)

Cause of Death- Accidental Drowning

Sridevi was an Indian actress, who has worked in 300 films. She started her acting career at very age of 4yrs. Her last movie was Mom & won the National Film Award for Best Actress, she was an incredible actor. Her movies English-Vinglish & Mom , perhaps, it was the only time in her life that her two worlds met beautifully, and she was able to essay on screen what she was off screen — a caring mom to two children. Her life was full of tragedy, personal or professional life. She was a true warrior & diva. She got married to Boney Kapoor & had 2 beautiful daughters. She was great mother & wife. She was creative too, she has also developed a passion for painting. In March 2010, her paintings were sold by an international art auction house with the money raised being donated. She was a great human. She lived her life the way she wanted.

 

Smita Patil was an Indian Actress in films, television & theatre. During her career, she has received 2 National Film Awards. Her performances were often acclaimed, apart from acting, She was an active feminist and a member of the Women’s Centre in Mumbai. She was deeply committed to the advancement of women’s issues and gave her endorsement to films which sought to explore the role of women in traditional Indian society, their sexuality, and the changes facing the middle-class woman in an urban milieu Patil was married to an actor Raj Babbar, her son Prateik Babbar is a film actor who made his debut in 2008.

On the occasion of 100 years of the Indian cinema, a postage stamp bearing her face was released by India Post to honour her on 3 May 2013.

4. Divya Bharti (1974-1993 )

Cause of Death- Accidental fall

Divya Bharti died at the age of 19yrs. She was known for her acting versatility, vivacity and beauty, she is regarded as one of the most popular and highest paid actresses of her time. She died when she was at a career peak, and has consequently received significant interest from the Indian film industry and audiences. Shortly before her death, she had completed filmingfor Rang and Shatranj which were released posthumously several months later and achieved moderate success. Although she had completed filming her scenes for both films, a dubbing artist was used as she never got the chance to dub for the films
Her incomplete Telugu film Tholi Muddhu was partly completed by actress Rambha, who slightly resembled Bharti and hence was used as her body double to complete her remaining scenes and the film released in October 1993. Indian Cinema has lost a rising star.

Mahjabeen Bano known as Meena Kumari was an Indian film actress, singer and poet, who starred in classic films of Hindi Cinema. In a career spanning 33 years, she starred in about 92 films. Three weeks after the release of Pakeezah, Meena Kumari became seriously ill. On 28 March 1972, she was admitted to St Elizabeth’s Nursing Home. She went into coma two days later and died shortly afterwards on 31 March 1972. She was 38 years old. As per her husband’s wish, she was buried at Rehmatabad Cemetery, located atNarialwadi, Mazagaon, Mumbai. Kumari requested the following prose for her

tombstone: “She ended life with a broken fiddle, with a broken song, with a broken heart, but not a single regret.“ As per his wish, upon his death on 11 February 1993 in Mumbai, her husband was buried next to her. Instead of many ups & downs, she fought with all. She was a warrior too.

5. Meena Kumari (1933-1972)
